Charles currently represents independent truck drivers and other plaintiffs in litigation and administrative efforts throughout the country, including arguing cases in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals and New York State’s highest court, the Court of Appeals.

Select cases represented include:

• Owner-operators in a state constitutional challenge against the State Department of Transportation’s mandated GPS tracking of heavy-duty trucks and operators

• A trade association in a constitutional challenge to California’s worker classification rule as applied in the interstate trucking industry

• Owner-operators in a suit against the federal agency to correct inaccuracies in the agency’s truck inspection records

• Owner-operators in a constitutional challenge to state tolls on heavy trucks

• Owner-operators in a challenge to the state’s enforcement of laws not incorporated into state law where he secured the removal of records of violations of these laws from federal databases.

Prior to joining the firm, Charles helped represent commercial property owners, operators, and developers navigate their most critical real estate needs. He has successfully represented clients on various business interests, including commercial real estate owners, developers, and other business owners in a range of complex contract disputes and other matters.
